Working at LUSH

I just need to share how absolutely amazing my job is and how wonderful it is to work around fresh, natural ingredients!

I obviously have an obsession with natural skin care remedies and i'm always looking for companies who truly practice this. I was attracted to LUSH because of the ingredients they use. Being an esthetician, i'm an absolute ingredient junkie. The first thing I do when I pick up a skin care product is turn it around and look at the label; And I was pleasantly surprised at what I saw when I looked at LUSH's labels. Loads and loads of fresh, natural ingredients. Not to mention they are all hand made, which means they are made in smaller batches, which means FRESH products. They also use little to no preservatives, so shorter shelf life. The benefits to this is knowing the ingredients are still fresh and BUZZING with active enzymes because they haven't been sitting in a factory for months and months loaded with preservatives. They are made fresh, and if they are not sold in time, they are taken off the shelves and replaced with fresh, new, lively product! 

Another huge thing to consider when looking for skin care is the quality of the ingredients. Something may have lavender oil in it, but where is that lavender oil coming from? Is it bought in bulk by the company, meaning it most likely has other filler oils? How is the lavender oil extracted? Is the oil diluted? These are things that we don't often think of, so it's great to find a company who gets it straight from the source so you KNOW your getting quality ingredients. LUSH travels all over the world to find the most ethical, fair trade ingredients and they KNOW how they are made. The skin is the largest organ of our body, and also one of the most important. We need to treat it that way!

Also, ethics. This has been a big deal to me because after esthetics school I learned how unethical some of these skin care companies are and how we really are being cheated. I was determined to find companies who not only make wonderful product, but are ethical while doing it. This is another quality that I love about LUSH. They never test on animals, they never engage in third party suppliers that test on animals, or buy products from companies that test on animals. They don't use any harsh chemicals that would harm a human so there is no need to test on animals. And for all you animal lovers out there, all of their products are vegetarian and over 80% vegan.
